Looking back over the past 2 months, this team was competitive at LSU, but is regressing rather than progressing as the season goes. That is a big red flag at this point in the process.
The roster is now filled with players that Doc recruited. If most of players aren't good enough for this level, then he needs to find them another place to go play on scholarship at a lower level and bring in a completely new roster to build with. If they have just quit, then their schollies don't need to be renewed next year or maybe even next semester if that is warranted. Doc has to rebuild the roster quickly one way or the other.
