In this case the B-12 formally and publicly solicited resumes and then crapped on every single one of them. It's almost as if they were out to quash whatever value the G5's still possessed...after years of being run-down and disenfranchised by the bigwigs of CFB & ESPN.

There should be lawsuits, sadly...

It looks bad but what would be the nature of any lawsuits?

I'd say some sort of collusion. Not sure how, but what gave the P5 schools the right do determine who is P5 and who is G5. Really, they just made it up and gave those not selected enough of a cut to keep them quiet. Why is the AAC not worthy of being in the P5? Why is the MWC not worthy? Why is Rutgers worthy - because there are a ton of TV in New Jersey? There are MANY schools that can could have the necessary budgets and revenue streams if they had P5 status. The P5 status itself is what gives many of the current P5 schools that ability. Once you've made the P5 distinction, it is almost a self-fulfilling prophecy, as it is difficult to remain competitive if you aren't included. If you are going to declare P5 and non-P5s, there should be some way for non-P5s to achieve P5 status. I mean, who exactly, is the decision-maker in all of this? It's F'd up and I'd feel the same way if Memphis was already a P5 school. The P5 should be more inclusive, but instead, they are moving toward becoming more exclusive. The more inclusive they are, the greater the number of student-athletes and communities that can benefit from "the system".

the major conferences own the bowl games that make up the playoffs

if you push hard enough they will just go back to the old way where the winners of the Big 10 and PAC 12 play in the Rose Bowl every year and the SEC SEC SEC in the Sugar Bowl and the Big 12 in the Cotton Bowl and then the media can name a national champion

or they could even pick up the phone and call around and trade some teams in some games like when the Bowl Collation first formed without the Rose Bowl

as for any TV money or other bowl money if other conferences are not happy with their TV contracts or their bowl contracts they should do like fast food workers and demand $15 dollars an hour and see how that works out for them
