Why are people even surprised about this? What's the rush? What's the incentive for a school like Iowa State or Texas Tech? Whether Texas leaves or not in 2025, the outcome would still be the same whether they invite Cincinnati or not. None of the schools considered are going anywhere anytime soon. They'll still be there in G5 purgatory once the GOR expires. A G5 school(s) will not fix any of the "problems" they have which are more about perception than anything else since they're doing fine on the field and court. They already got the conference championship waiver with just 10 teams. They still have the Sugar Bowl tie in, most of the schools make over $30 million a year, they still have two blue bloods in football and one in basketball and they have the richest and most coveted school in the nation (Texas).
