Don't confuse fan opinions with administration opinions.

Anyone who has worked in intercollegiate athletics knows you don't easily draw casual fans across state lines. You would be hard pressed to find any notable number of Memphis Tiger fans across the river in Arkansas that aren't alums and I suspect that the same is true of Idaho and Washington State in Pullman and Moscow and of Toledo across the border in Michigan, probably similar in Kentucky across from Cincinnati.

I know a good number of AState fans in Missouri and Memphis but I've only met one who wasn't an alum and that was a young man who grew up in Jonesboro and took a job in Branson.

I doubt there many South Alabama fans when you cross into Mississippi or Florida and the same would be true of UWF drawing out of Alabama.
