Back on topic (2017 Recruiting), I'm very pleased that we have commitments from two big bodied tight ends especially since Cole Hunt transferred and Matt Terrill transitioned to Offensive Line. Some of the articles on Jaeger Bull indicate that he will play QB this fall. Speaking of, it will be interesting to see if Jackson Tyner stays at QB or moves to TE.

I don't think we have the depth to redshirt any of the Sophomores... Abercrumbia and Thompson will both be in the two-deep at DT (along with Gordon and Hennesse). Padgett (who is a bigger guy, 260-270) will hopefully play the "strongside" DE position whereas guys like Brown and Womac might play more of a hybrid DE/LB role (as was seen in the spring game).

With regard to the TE position going forward, this year we'll have:

Cella- RS Sr.
Wells- RS Jr.
Sanchez- Fr. (He NEEDS a redshirt, very skinny)

We have commitments from Bull and from Odom for 2017.

We definitely need Sanchez to put on some weight during his redshirt year, or else I do think Tyner might move.

He does appear to be getting lost in the shuffle at QB, but I think they'll give him a chance again during Fall Camp to compete with Granato for the backup spot. He has the best measureables of any QB on the roster.

I would also note that he would look great coming out of the bullpen for the Owls next spring.

Yeah, you are probably right, it is just that we are now set up to lose three interior lineman to graduation as opposed to two. Our injuries last year really did a number on us.

Regarding that hybrid DE/LB role. That is going to be a very interesting position to watch recruiting wise going forward. It almost gives us a 3-4 or 3-3-5 look. Of the guys coming in this fall, Hubbard and Philips are the Defensive ends, but Philips looks like he may continue to grow which puts Hubbard as the guy to look at. Then again, Anthony Ekpe excelled as a pass rusher so he could fit that mold as well.

I like the addition of Sanchez (another HS QB - I am amazed at how many HS QBs we have had/have on our team). I understand that we would like for him to gain some size, but I hope the coaching staff doesn't keep him on the sidelines if he doesn't. He has a big frame with really good speed. He could be a match up nightmare for a lot of teams.

As for Tyner, it would be even better if he could hit for power. We definitely need that ability.
