Tywin Lanister sacked Kings Landing. Ned didn't get there till hours later and Robert was still recovering up near the Trident from his wounds from his battle with Rhaegar.

Plus what Dany just did goes a far stretch beyond simple "sacking". She laid waste to Kings Landing. It's not even a usable city anymore.

Perhaps, but the bottom line is that entire Baratheon revolution was based on lie that Ned knew not to be true. That said, this compressed final season seems to have ended the tendency of GOT to do the unexpected. Its been more or less setting things up and letting them play out exactly as you would expect. Jon says he loves her---so I dont see him killing her. Now---Arya....she's a lot more likely to be very unhappy with her queen after her experiences trying to get out of out of Kings Landing. So...maybe Arya takes her out and Jon takes over. Jon would be a compassionate ruler---but he's kinda stupid. He'll need to keep Tyrian and Sansa around to run the day to day.
