So now I wonder, what will they do with the story lines if the books don't get complete in time, will GRRM give them a blueprint/outline and have them put the meat on the bones while he does his own story line? Will they go in and do their own thing? Will he write the books according to the show's story line? I know he consults with D&D but time is running out, and even if he finishes the book before S7 will they have enough time to adapt to his story lines?

Does it matter?

I loved the books, and am in awe of the fantastic world that GRRM has created. But he has essentially abandoned the storyline to the show.

As one critic (I can't remember which) put it: GRRM is in the unhappy spot of watching another man raise his child, and knowing that the other guy is doing a better job of it than he is able to do.
