There were so many glaring idiotic plot holes, wtf out of character moments, characters introduced for no reason, and superhuman feats all for the sake of rushing to the show's ending because the producers don't know what else to do other than jerkily jump from plot point to plot point that GRRM gave them.

Go back and watch older episodes. So much better written.
Book readers should love this. It gives a clear reason to read the books forthcoming despite many plot points already known (though I'm sure Martin feels some temptation to change things up significantly too). Of course that relies on the last books ever coming out, so........ok, it's a mixed bag.

I think the showrunners probably do have some pressure from HBO to wrap this up soon. They are spending big bucks on each episode. There are still some holes it would be pretty easy to cover up without too much added screen time (e.g. the Arya story in Braavos and why Dany leaving "Dragon Bay" to Daario is a good idea (we all know the real reason: no one really cares about this place).

Just to add, it's kind of interesting that the episode titled "Winds of Winter" did not feature the white walkers for one minute and only alluded to them briefly (when Jon said they are bringing the winter). Seemed strange. It would've been cool to see the Night's King and some portion of his army gazing at the Wall from afar, with a look on his face of "I know how to bring that thing down". But again, time is money.

The rumors are the last seasons will be 7 and 6 episodes each so they can spend more money on each episode and then it will be over. Still not confirmed by HBO though, but I won't be surprised.
