I can't see how Meera and Bran escape. Benjen will be just too convenient. Will Coldhands show up? Is Coldhands Benjen? I might forgive the producers if Benjen shows up riding a giant elk. And what is the origin of Coldhands? What the heck is he?

A Wiki of Ice and Fire article:

http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Coldhands

I'd be really excited if some version of Coldhands shows up to help Meera and Bran put some distance between themselves and the WW army. In the preview for the next episode, the very brief shot of Meera makes it seem like she's holding onto something for dear life as it moves at speed. Might be Coldhands' great elk towing the sledge and hauling ass away from the Night's King.

As for origins, Book Coldhands is a lot more interesting. My guess would be that he was a Night's Watch ranger hundreds of years before the events of the books that got killed by the Others far north of the Wall. Children of the Forest magic may be what is keeping him from becoming just another thrall wight. He kept all of his intelligence but I assume only traces of his personality. A veritable super-wight, and kind of a mystical "beyond the Wall" figure.

If he appears, Show Coldhands won't be as cool I fear. They've got the budget to make Benjen look and sound like a spooky super-wight, but it will probably come across more as "Benjen dressed like Coldhands" than "Coldhands = Benjen".

I may be off, but I think Coldhands is The Night's King. Nan claims that The Night's King was from the House of Stark and his name was Brandon. The Night's King supposedly had sex with a wight (I'm going to guess this is someone important too), and gave his soul. He ruled with his wight queen for thirteen years, and was overthrown after it was discovered he was sacrificing people to the others. He was erased from the history books.
