2014: By the end of the season App State was the best team but earlier losses kept them from going to the championship. App would beat both teams in the championship game if they played them again.

2015: Troy 2015 = App State 2014. Teams should now fear them as they have beaten ULM and NMSU and have the best defense in the Sun Belt. If they played USA again they would beat them by at least two touchdowns. If they played Idaho again they would win. Georgia Southern should worry about that game. Oh wait, we heard that one before.

The argument wouldn't go away, but teams not in the championship game would say that the teams that are in the championship game aren't the best. Maybe it's that the "second best" team was from the same division or another reeled off 6 wins to end the season and wasn't in the game... The argument would just be in a different form.

I believe 2015 is more like this:

2015: App St beats GS, Ark St beats App St, but the South Georgia Peach, Peanut, Watermellon Sports Computer says that GA So is 35 points better than App St and 34 points better than Ark St so we will beat either by 5 touchdowns therefore we should get the championship. Beat chest, brag GATA beat chest. If you don't believe us we will scream louder than everyone else.

If you look back through this thread you will find 99.9% of GS fans saying we are 2nd or 3rd in the power rankings so I can't for the life of me figure out what you are so butt-hurt about.

Actually, of the 11 GS fans that have responded in this thread, only 6 are saying GS is 2nd or 3rd. The other half have either outright said GS should be at least tied for number 1, or argued in favor of someone arguing that.

Hyperbole aside, our friend from Mobile is pretty accurate. The fan base's reputation is earned, not made up.
