Maybe, but he DID interview a bunch of people in the organization.

And the timing of the Jimmy G trade certainly did seem to jive with what the article is saying. If they were always planning to deal him, that trade should have happened in the previous offseason OR the next offseason. Belichick, whose timing for making trades always seems to make sense and be the right move at the right time, unloaded a future franchise QB for just an early 2nd. And this despite the team repeatedly offering Jimmy G pretty robust contract extensions.

It was CLEAR he wasn't re-signing, so while i do think they could have gotten more why would you just let him walk and get nothing?

In terms of his interviewing people within the organization, you know how that place works, no one talks. The interview n WEEI Friday last about 20 minutes, they grilled him, and he had very little to say when they backed him into multiple corners.
