You never HAVE to sign a letter of intent. It's not required for any student-athlete. Granted, it's a risk for both parties, since verbal agreements can be broken without penalty before the student enrolls into the school.

In the case of Groce, he's already a student, so if a different D1 school wanted him, he'd have to sit out ANOTHER year. He's either playing here, or he's not playing D1 ball at all.

Epps could have academic issues, but we have no current reason to speculate anything other than him being on the team in the fall.
