RE: 2015 AAC Men's BBall Tournament will be in Hartford, CT
I would think (or at least hope) that the marketing department at the AAC HQ is doing it’s research to find out what the profile of the “typical fan” that attended the first AAC tournament in Memphis was.

How many days did they stay in town, how far they traveled, did they fly or drive, how many games did they attend, did they attend games even after their school was eliminated, did they make it a family trip or was it a buddies trip, what else did they do while in town like golfing for example ect? If I was the person doing the research I would contact each AAC schools ticket department and send a questioner survey to every season ticket holder from each school asking the same type questions and what things would prompt them travel to the conference tournament, I would then do the same with the schools booster clubs.

Based on the common answers I think the conference can get a pretty good handle on where the best locations would be. For example if they find that most fans make it a long family weekend then Orlando would be a perfect spot, but if it’s more a buddy trip then maybe a place like Atlantic City or New Orleans would work out better. I’m not speculating on what the answers would be, but at least the conference can make an educated decision as to which cities would draw the largest crowds. The AAC has such a diverse group of member cities I would think they can make a choice based on what most fans are looking for outsides just the games to draw the best crowds.
