RE: UVA loss, ODU's gain?
I don't think London will be fired this season. He's owed a ton of money, and his incomming recruiting class is pretty solid with 2 five-star verbals already. Many recruits would likely change their minds if a coaching change were made at UVA. If this pattern of losing extends into next season, he'll definietly be on the hot seat.

I also don't think BW wants to go anywhere at this point. His desire to see ODU through the transition from start up to FBS level may be great enough for him to deter any potential job offers through at least next season. Leaving now would leave unfinished business. If we compete at a high level next season and if we're able to make a run at the CUSA title in our first season, then he'll have schools lining up to interview him.

If UVA offered he would go. IMHO this will not happen.

Why are we even discussiing replacing Wilder on this forum? There is no indication of his pending departure. In fact, there is every indication of his intent to stay with ODU for the long-term. Our time would be better spent sending him emails letting him know how much we appreciate him with info copies to Wood Selig.

Joe Moglia, before become the head Coach at Coastal Carolina had a brief connection to the Hampton Roads Area. In November of 2010, he was named as the head coach of the new United Football League franchise, the Virginia Destroyers. On January 12, 2011 he was then named President and head coach of the Omaha Nighthawks, whose venue is TD Ameritrade Park, which was built for 131 million with a current capacity of 24,505 (expandable to 35,000) in Omaha.

In his seven years at TD Ameritrade, Moglia and his executive management team oversaw the company as its client assets grew from $24 billion to over $300 billion, increased its market capitalization from $700 million to $12 billion. His last year as the CEO of TD Ameritrade he earned a total Compensation of $9,936,460.00 and still collects almost a 1,000,000.00 a year in residual income and is paid a Chairman's salary of $800,00.00 a year as well..

He also has a current stock holding with TD Ameritrade of 1 million shares. Valued (2013) at $1.31 per share ($1,310,000.00 ) and a yearly shared earning revenue of $340,000.00 ($ .33) per share.

Joe Moglia, became the HC of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on December 20, 2011. Moglia has remained the current Chairman of TD Ameritrade. In his first season at Coastal, he led the team to win the 2012 Big South Conference Championship and was named 2012 Big South Conference Coach of the Year. This is just his 2nd year at Coastal.

Moglia earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Fordham University, his master's degree in secondary education from the University of Delaware and was a football coach for 16 years, finishing as the defensive coordinator at Dartmouth College from 1981-1983.

RE: UVA loss, ODU's gain?
The sports section of today's USA Today (11/7/13) has a list of the total compensation received by all DI football coaches, including Bobby Wilder. Boy, what a wake up call. Bobby's compensation is in the neighborhood of $450k. Mike London's compensation totals over $2.4 Million (working off memory here).

I understand that there are more to jobs than just money, but it would be really hard to walk away from a $2 Million pay raise and an increase in professional stature. I hope that doesn't happen anytime soon, but I would completely understand if it did. It's the nature of being a mid-major.

On the bright side, we've got a really good thing going here, so I think we would a very desirable job for a lot of talented coaches looking for their first HC gig. Change is always unsettling...but it often is good and healthy.

For the long-term, we need to continue to grow our FB program and brand so that we're a destination school vs. a stepping stone. That's a monumental task, but certainly achieveable. Aim high!

The best replacement for Wilder? That's what we're talking about? Hmm...

I'll bite.

My choice is easily Ron Whitcomb. I give him a LOT of credit for where we are right now. Not only can he recruit and coach QBs, but I honestly believe he's largely responsible for our prolific offense; He's Bobby's protege. I just hope he doesn't leave before he gets the opportunity to take the job here. I foresee Brian Scott leaving in the near future to take over another smaller program, and Whitcomb getting the nod at OC. And yes, folks, it will happen--Bobby is going to leave one day. I don't think he'll see the end of his contract here, so I'm going to enjoy the hell out of him while we've got him.
