You call that wildly successful ? ok.

Well, he won a DII National Championship at Southen Indiana after finishing runner up the year before.

At UW-M, he took them to their 1st ever Horizon League Regular season title, first ever NCAA d1 tourney, and took them to the Sweet 16 (cough) in his 4th year. Before Pearl got the UMW, they were 76-132. The most wins they had ever had were 15. He won 16, 24, 20 and 26.

At Tennesee, he took at team that had been to 12 NCAA appearances in the previous 70 years to six berths in six seasons. Tennessee only had one true S16 appearance before Pearl (in 70+ years). Pearl took them to two S16's and an E8.

You can say what you want about him as a person, but to argue he did not accomplish HISTORICAL achievments in each of his three previous jobs is delusional.

yep.

I mean, I get it. He was Tn's coach, y'all hated him (until you had a job opening and then you loved him and then hated him again), he's a scoundrel, blah, blah, blah.

But he is an excellent basketball coach. He coached for 9 years in DI and went to the NCAAT in 8 of those years. He went 10-8 in the tourney. He made his teams good immediately at each job he took. Winning a national title at one of the schools.
