If you can't grasp that "simple concept" I guess I am just wasting time trying to get you to see it.

I am not sure how we have survived without the snow cone machine and the basketball secretary. At the end of the day that is all he took that was "ours" and the secretary does have the freedom to take any job she chooses. Those recruits were not ours, they were Cals just like D Rose did not come to play for Memphis, just like Tyreke did not come to play for Memphis. They came to play for Cal. Will Barton did not come to play for Memphis, he came to play for the assistant (his name slips my mind). John Wall did not go to play at UK and that is UK. He went to play for Cal. Just the way it is.

What Cal left though is easy to measure. Upgrades at every level of the program (remember when he wanted laptops for each player and had them in 5 minutes). Renewed sense of excitement around the program. Top ten attendance. Top ten salary for the coach (if deserved). National recognition while playing in CUSA (almost impossible to garner). Those things have carried over. Josh deserves credit for helping keep the ship going but to ignore what Cal did and say he left it in bad shape is just not accurate no matter how you want to measure it.

I personally thought the hissy fit Tommy threw on the way out was way more detrimental to the program and especially its public perception but to each their own.

Going back to the RIP Scherer era....Memphis football had been promised a lot of improvements that it never got.
What Tommy West did and said SHOULD have been said sooner. If Memphis had gotten those football upgrades in the past...we just might be sitting at a big boy table with the other P5 conferences. Who knows?
And those recruits were recruited on MEMPHIS's dime NOT Cal's dime....so yes they were OURS. Heck is Roy Williams could leave Kansas for UNC and not take his KU recruits...Cal could have done the same.

you are right about football. Tommy should have said something publically when he was the toast of the town not when he had stopped recruiting and we were getting our brains beat in on the field (as he collected a huge sum of money for a raise he used mississippi to get…..but cal is the bad guy right?).

we will have to agree to disagree on the players. If they did not go to UK they were still not coming here so I see no need to get up in arms about it. As for probation and vacated wins so what? I was there and you can still buy the dvd on the ncaa site. I would even contend that the punishment was ridiculous and there is no way to blame cal for the ncaa being loosy goosy (love that joshism).
