RE: Hopkins Report on Joining Conference: Green Light (link)

Yes. Plus just their men's team, their women's still doesn't want to fight in a conference against big money AD's and their facilities arms race.
Quote: I guess all that they bring to the table are the ability to get an automatic bid and prestige. That seems to favor the Big 10 more than anything. The ACC already has dominant programs and does not have an auto birth (next season they will be at 6 schools before Maryland leaves).
But since JHU is traditional rivals of so many ACC schools, they might get the invite anyway.
Quote: Not sure the ACC needs or wants Hopkins if they bring nothing to the table. There would have to be some academic tie-ins to make it worthwhile.
There's the possibility of an upgrade of the ACC contract with ESPNU if JHU is added to the conference, even if the home games are still under the ESPNU contract with JHU. Even if its just number of appearances, that's still a bonus.
So its not certain whether there's actually nothing that JHU brings to the table, but they definitely bring more to the Big Ten ~ a conference with two blue bloods is just more interesting to follow than a conference with only one.
