That IS interesting. According to that article, WMU won the MAC West.

Someone should have fact-checked that before letting it go to print.

Paul's departure should make it easier for the Rockets to win the West next year, but I'm still disappointed to see a very good player leave the conference.

Maybe he decided he'd be more comfortable playing alongside his old frontcourt running mate again. We have a schollie, right?

4th in 4 years. Lamarcus Lowe left the year before howard did, ALSO going to Detroit Mercy.

Comparing the Lowe and Howard Jr. transfers is not exactly a "fair" comparison. Those kids had major baggage.

Men leave the program for lots of reasons. We've pretty much had a revolving door at UTso we're in no position to say anything about Hawkins or the WMU program. I'm just hoping Paul left cuz he couldn't stand not playing with his buddy Nathan Boothe and he's planning on taking our last schollie.

Transferring in basketball has become an epidemic. Isn't it like over 50% end up transferring before they graduate?

Most transfers are granted as long the transfer is not to a school in the same conference.

Players can transfer to any school they want. Conferences often have rules that a player transferring to another school in the same conference cannot receive a scholarship during their "sit-out" year. In other words, you pay your own way for a year, then go on scholarship.

I think they can't get a scholarship at all. There was a player who transferred from UM to 0$U a few years ago and had to pay his own way.

All I know is back in the seventies we got one of the toughest point guards in UT history, Jim Kindle, in an even up trade with BG for a guy who struggled in pickup games at the Health Ed building, Steve Cooper. Rules may have changed in that regard but I think that in conference transfers are OK. Anyone know when the last one in the MAC took place?
