Tulsa coming very soon
Apparently, they did not want to announced it before:
1. Tulsa hired an AD, which they did a few days ago, or
2. The conclusion of the C-USA tournament held in Tulsa.
Here's the article from a Marshall reporter.

Well since Landon wrote it I'll assume it's not true.

The real question is ---"What's the hurry?" Navy isn't coming until 2015....unless....
Is it possible we may use exit fee money to buy Navy out of enough 2014 games to join a year earlier? That would be sweet!

I can't vouch for the accuracy, but if true I think those are valid reasons to hold off on a public announcement.

Right. They generally dont announce any further ahead than they have to. which is why to me it would be strange to announce you 2015 exit in early 2013. You only have to give one year notice. It may mean nothing, but it would be nice it we could be up to 12 in 2014. Thats obviously very unlkely....but Aresco did mention it on the press conference call, though he indicated it was a very small possibility.

Tulsa will be a great addition to nBE. What is funny how Marshall folks put down our new conference but (I believe) would jump at a chance to join. Hopefully that will not happen anytime soon as Marshall is nothing more than a .500 team in its 8 year history in Cusa with only one second place finish (No championships). If anyone else joins I hope it is Umass (northeast teams) and USM. (Opinion)

Good luck to La. Tech. in Cusa. Coach Holts will do a good job for you. I see La. Tech. and MTSU being the top two teams in near future of Cusa......Best wishes:)

If true, it now means all of the former conference Champs from Conf USA, except, for USM, are now in this new league. I feel bad for the USM fans, although many on the Conf USA board seem to be pleased with their staying put. Time will tell I suppose.

I feel bad for Marshall too. If I were Marshall, I'd go back to the MAC.

Tulsa is a good addition. They're competent. Like UConn, they've won at ND recently, and we need programs that can do stuff like that.
I wish they were a bigger school in a bigger city, but they'll fit in very well.

I've had the chance to talk to quite a few Marshall fans in the last 7-8 years. First of all, they were without exception very friendly and decent people. Second of all, every one of them said they wanted Marshall to remain in a southern /southeastern-based league, and never return to a Midwestern-based league. FWIW.

With three exceptions, Conference TBD is a Southern-based league.

Trust me.....USM and Marshall would jump at the chance to leave Cusa........USM has paid its dues but Marshall is still a .500 team in Cusa with NO championships.

Chuck Landon is a no-talent hack. Tulsa may be on their way out of CUSA, but a Chuck Landon article isn't necessarily proof that a Tulsa move is inevitable.

Who is Chuck Landon and why is there so much hate for him.
Isnt he just a beat writer for a really small newspaper?
