NBR: Kyle Whitmire leaves Weld Birmingham
http://weldbham.com/blog/2012/07/27/stat...from-weld/

Weld releases a statement regarding Kyle going from them to AMG/the Snooze/al.com.

As the first comment put it very succinctly: "I'm sure I don't need to point this out because it is already beyond apparent - but this public statement reeks of butthurt. Unprofessional!"

I hope that Kyle is allowed to do what he does best.

I hope so, too.

I'd hate to think he's joined the dark side.

I don't care what they say, Weld has been hemorrhaging money since its initial investment, and Kyle was jumping ship before the whole thing fell.

I literally laughed out loud when they put they he left for a "competitor". Not even a competition, regardless of how weak the Alabama Media Group is.

Glenny Brock, Editor in Chief and another of the founders, also left recently. I suspect that Weld is in deep doody. I hate it, I like a good alternative paper and had high hopes for Weld.

Whitmire is one of the best local reporters I know of, and I'll follow him wherever he goes. Even if it is the (hoooock, spit, ptui!) Snooze.

Not a very professional response to him leaving.

Yeah, I had higher expectations for Mark Kelly.

That's quite the public pouty face he put on.
