Almost all of their other traditional rivals were in a conference with them until recently and they haven't had a chance to schedule them. The only exception is Penn State, who for some reason refuses to play them.

IMO, if WVU really cared about playing traditional rivals, they would be making an effort to schedule these games starting 2018 and beyond. Clearly that is not happening now.

miko, do you actually think about things? Or does this 01-rivals just pop out of your head before you have a chance to think about it?

Show me the actions that WVU is pursuing to keep a connection with its traditional rivals. It looks pretty clear that WVU is leaving her traditional rivals to play with the Big12.

Why are all the first moves up to WVU - and why do they have to be made right now? The Mountaineers just changed conferences, and what rivals we had were played less than a year ago...

WVU's traditional rivals left for a conference that doesn't want WVU. WVU didn't leave all it's traditional rivals. They left WVU. What remained wasn't worth sticking around for, so the Mountaineers moved on. It's pretty obvious WVU made the right move too...

What you think is clear is so ludicrous it could be called stupid...

There's simply no excuses for Pitt/WVU and WVU/Va. Tech to not play yearly.
I would argue that before Va. Tech got scared of WVU and ran to the sisters of the poor ACC that WVU/Tech was the best game in that Big East.

Nope - I miss the VT rival and will miss the Pitt rival for sure; the Syracuse one for that matter, but feel it is now time to look forward not backward - I hate it, but I say forget trying to play either again. The Ivy league of the South pursued those they felt more comfortable, so it is. No need to play either when you are faced with this every year:

Oklahoma
Texas
Texas Tech
Kansas State
Iowa Stae
TCU
Baylor
Oklahoma State

Fill in with some patsies - well that said, maybe they should be scheduled.

RE: CR fallout: Is WVU turning its backs on its traditional rivals?
Ohio State is looking for some more high profile games among teams in their region. A WVU-Ohio State game would be a good one for the Buckeyes to start playing in football. We've already played the Buckeyes for a few years in basketball. The 2 campuses are only about 3 hours apart, and it's a natural regional rivalry...

IMO since VT and Pitt have no desire at present to schedule WVU, we should look for other high profile teams in our area. Ohio State fits the bill perfectly, if they're willing...
