Generation Y: A culture of dependency
http://news.yahoo.com/americas-generatio...ector.html

Past generations wanted to drive for independence. This generation has been conditioned to be dependent. The perfect serfs.

Probably a good thing that they drive less. When I was 16-19, I drove as much as possible. Gas was $.70/gallon. Now that I'm older, I don't like to drive as much. It cost more, I rather not spend an hour a day in my car, and too many crazies out there.

This along with the number of fat ass kids I see everywhere tells you this group is lazy bunch of brats. I'm kind of glad though that they are off the road. They need to get out of the house first.

Paid .30

They had price wars when I was mowing lawns and you could get it for .15.

Just think. If we drill more, we can get back down to that $.70.gallon. 03-lmfao

Probably not, but if we drill more, we don't have to fret every time Iran threatens to blockade a strait, or every time Israel starts thinking about bombing a nuclear reactor.

RE: Generation Y: A culture of dependency
Both the Baby Boomers and Millenials have been spoiled, but at least the Millenials acknowledge it. Some Boomers talk like they were raised in the Great Depression or something.

I love my parents, but the Boomers are leaving this country in far worse shape than they found it. They party their asses off in the 1960s and 70s, then wake up one day, buy suits and decide crack down on hippies. When they get to the top of the corporate ladder in the 1980s, they elect politicians who slash their taxes and regulations that send the deficit soaring and cause financial crises. They win the Cold War, but don't cut military spending. This nation has been operating on a credit card for the last 30 years thanks to their selfishness, while they buy McMansions and fly around on jetskis (bought with inheritances from their Greatest Generation parents, who were actually born in the Depression and scrapped and saved their whole lives).

If the Millenials grow up with a "dependency culture", it's because of all the jobs that have disappeared thanks to the Boomers. Too many of my peers are unemployed or underemployed and will have to wait years longer than the Boomers did before they can start saving for retirement or own a home. It's causing untold misery, and just LOL at you losers blaming Millenials for this mess.

RE: Generation Y: A culture of dependency
I've been blaming the Boomers for years. The Millenials are the grand kids of the Boomers, so they're being raised by the kids of the Boomers.

The Boomers are (and I realize I'm speaking in generalities) the most narcissistic bunch of crybabies we've ever produced, and all their shallowness and frivolousness is coming home to roost.

I'm not about to blame the kids. They're playing the cards they've been dealt. No work ethic. No sense of delayed gratification. Everybody gets a trophy.

We created these monsters and now we have to live with them.
