RE: Thoughts on OOC scheduling and the BE
Mark, I'd rather play UConn if I had SU play anyone near NYC. I still would rather put Louisville on the schedule on a regular basis if they were interested. Heck, I'd like to see them a part of the ACC if Notre Dame decided to join.

RE: Thoughts on OOC scheduling and the BE
I would rather play any BE team than a FCS school. Yes, I am throwing rocks at my own school.
ECU was always a great game for NCSU. Unfortunately a small group of fans tarnished the game.
Interesting(?) trivia: Because of hurricane Floyd, ECU moved its 1999 home game against Miami to Carter Finley Stadium. I was there with 40,000+ ECU fans to see them defeat #9 Miami 27-23.

Please explain for the new guys (namely me). Thanks.

We will pretty much have no choice. Big East, CUSA, MAC, Sun Belt teams looking for a one and done.
The price we pay for giving up an assured sellout OOC game for a dog conference game, except in the years we play VT and Miami.
I know, I know........every two years we will have hordes of Syracuse fans. I'm from Missouri ya'll have to show me. Ya'll don't show up in hordes at your home games, so ya'll have a lot to prove.

In it I list at least 2 non-conference opponents for each ACC team (for Pitt I found 7).
P.S. all of the maps are to the same scale.
Good read, HM!
I have to respectfully differ on your Syracuse recommendation, though. Syracuse has never viewed Rutgers as a rival. We are 30-11-1 against the Scarlet Knights. Six of Rutgers wins come in Syracuse' darkest football history. Even then we are 14-7 since 1991 in the Big East. This is not a slam, just the way it is.
Most Syracuse fans would not mind playing Rutgers periodically but not as an OOC rival game. PSU and WVU are our most storied OOC games (Pitt is right there, too but they remain in conference). Neither PSU nor WVU will be often enough for rivalry status, though I hope to play both at least home/home per decade.
Personally, I would prefer Army or Navy. I am ambivalent towards Rutgers, Temple, UConn, Buffalo and UMass.

You're from Missouri.....it's a long way from Missouri to Pitt county.

We'll y'all have already shown us.....EweNC doesn't travel. Period. Big reason why we have crap bowls when the largest public schools in the conference don't travel past Charlotte, and even then it ain't like y'all do an impressive job.

From they way you tell it, Syracuse fans will not be able to buy tickets as Clemson has already sold out for the next 50 years or so. Based on that info, I wouldn't expect too many Orange fans...
Of course there is that pesky fact that you are the only one claiming that hordes of Syracuse fans will attend games at Clemson so you will be sorely disappointed in yourself if the prophecy is self fulfilling.
There is also another alternative, Clemson could win and fill their own stadium, but that is another story altogether.
As long as Clemson is staying in the ACC, try to enjoy all those "gimme" victories the ACC is slotting for you.

RE: Thoughts on OOC scheduling and the BE
Wake's out of conference scheduling philosophy usually has at least one game from each of the first two categories with an occassional game from the other categories. I expect the FCS games to disappear off the future schedules since we only played them half the time in the Grobe era anyway. It helps if the team is in a key recruiting ground outside if the ACC footprint Texas in particular.
1. Private school that plays FBS football especially fellow Magnolia League teams (Vandy, Stanford, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Baylor, Rice, SMU, TCU, Tulane, BYU, as well as Syracuse and BC before they joined the ACC)
2. Military Academies (Army, Navy, Air Force)
3. Beatable BCS conference team (Ole Miss, Indiana etc..)
4. Regional FCS team (Elon, Liberty etc...)
5. Brand name team (Nebraska, Notre Dame etc...)

I wouldn't mind Rutgers. Other than that I don't really care for it.
