And yes, I can tell their first string was out there, 49 rushes and 45 points. Bottom line, a 24 point loss in which you were down 17 before the students all got in the stadium, if you really believe that Alabama spent a full week of practice preparing for you with Auburn/potential BCS championship coming up you're crazy. You're also crazy if you believe that any videos coming out of Alabama's camp that week are nothing more than coach speak from a man who prides himself on control of everything, you don't know anything about FBS football and for your sake you better hope and pray IF Ga. Southern moves up that the coaching staff does.
Enjoy the Bottom 10 for the next 10 years.
Ok ETSU fan, you need to relax and just hope they bring football back to that half burried bud light can up there in Johnsonville.
So... On one hand Bama cares nothing about the game with us. Yet there is soom conspiracy theory that Saban cares enough to relase a fake video to give that illusion
Lets just agree that Saban is a perfectionist and would prepare for anybody and everybody. It may come as a shock to you, but those guys spent some time in the spring even getting a glance at the option. That information coming from one of our own who works in the Athletic department over there. Saban didnt want to have to worry about this offense - reference CBS game UT/UF same time as Navy/SouthCarolina game for that information.
And I know the Iron Bowl has its own attraction, and I'm sure some players were looking forward to that. But seriously, Auburn was terrible last year and everybody in Tuscaloosa knew that. At half time of the Iron Bowl, Auburn had negative yards rushing and the announcers said that Auburn should call those "Beautiful Eagle Creek Boys, cause they know how to run the ball on Alabama".
As that game breaks down. They didnt just blow us out in the begining 17-0 as simple as that sounds. We held them to 3 on their first drive, then marched down the field into their redZone in about 5 plays. Yes we lost yardage the next two plays and had to settle for 3. Watch the replay on those two plays - the pitch man had the bounry open BIG, but bama got good penatration by the DE and Jaybo would have had to quick pitch either or both of those times - and we may have took a lead early. But the Senior QB played it safe, and we went for 3.. They Blocked the field goal and returned it for 7. Boom! That was the back breaker and that 10 point swing was what we were chasing all game. It was a 10 point game still late in the third Quarter! Regardless of how much time Bama spent on preparing for us. I wouldnt doubt that major BCS programs are going to shorten their time preparring for specific offenses. This one tough, they usually spend a little more time on simply because of how different it is to prepare for. I doubt however that there is much difference in their normal prep for a top level FCS llike an App State than their prep time for a North Texas or Kent state. I don't think they think the 22 scholarships make enough difference to spend more time on those games.
Finally, You take a Bama team trying to be ranked high enough to get to the National Championship and you dont think that they wont to show comoplete dominance over an FCS team? That was honestly one of the best games competitive wise that Bama had that year. You think that is something they wanted people to see? Bama had one loss, they dont have a playoff - only voting. Would you risk anyone thinking your game was close against an FCS team so that you might not deserve the vote? Makes no sense. Bama stopped us every time they could. And scored every point they could. Their players got fired up the night before with the upset out west that opened the door for them to get back into the NC game.
