West Virginia junior safety Darwin Cook and senior cornerback Terence Garvin were arrested on Tuesday for stealing snacks from a local convenience store. The players face misdemeanor theft charges, according to a report in the Dominion Post.

Police said surveillance camera footage showed Garvin taking a bag from behind the counter, which Cook then filled with three bottles of Gatorade and two bags of Doritos. Garvin also placed two additional bags of pretzels in the bag, according to the report.

Cameras then showed Cook carrying the bag out of the store. Neither player paid for the items.

"I have been made aware of the situation and am gathering facts at this time. When all the facts are in, I will take appropriate action," West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen said in a statement provided to the Dominion.

The incident occured April 12, and arrest warrants were issued April 25. Shoplifting merchandise worth $500 or less is punishable by a fine of up to $250.

Garvin started in each of the past two seasons, leading the Mountaineers in tackles in 2010, with 76. He had 72 tackles last season, ranking fourth on the team.

Cook started in 2011 and made 85 tackles, ranking second on the team, and also intercepted two passes.

WR Stedmon Bailey was arrested earlier in the year for shop lifting a bunch of cold medicine (assumably for uhhh a bad cold, right?).

According to a published report in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, defensive back/wideout Darwin Cook made a school change on Thursday.

Cook, who committed to the University of Cincinnati over the summer, made a switch this week when he chose West Virginia. The move between Big East foes could serve as a focal point to highlight the burgeoning competition between the two schools, both on the field and in the recruiting game.
Cook, who plays both wide receiver and defensive back, could see action on either side of the ball in college. So far this year, he has 676 combined rushing/receiving yard,s and has scored six times. Defensively, he has been even better, recording almost 70 tackles and 14 1/2 sacks in six games.

Cook had received interest from a number of schools, including Alabama, Michigan State, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Purdue. However, his early choice of Cincinnati seemed firm until a recent visit to West Virginia swayed him.

UC threw in all the Gatorade and Cheetos he could eat, and he still
chose WVU, a decision he'll regret the rest of his football career!

The Big 12 has made some tremendous decisions, TCU is the current runaway Fulmer Cup leader and WVU has to be climbing into the top 3 or 4 after these arrests.

Yeah, I don't think any of us have any sympathy for Cook's fate (if there is any).
