Tommie has confirmed to us that he will be transferring to Northern Illinois, where his high school coach Lou Dawkins is an assistant coach. "We almost have a father-son type relationship." McCune said "It was a easy decision to make."
i am with 7.....great trade off.....having lost 20+ games a year for most of this century, you gotta take some chances.....it ain't like he committed felonious assault....hopefully he will simply follow the 8th Commandment in Dekalb and his problems are behind him...but this "gamble" has a huge upside... it may take a guy or two like this to turn the program around and reuniting with his h.s. coach may well be an antidote for future transgressions. plus, who knows his character better than his former coach?

I'm not I'm complaining yet about it, but I can see both sides. You find it funny that folks would be upset about us brining in a kid that has already had trouble with the law and quickly removed from his last college? Think about it...is it that hard to understand?
We all want NIU to have talent and to do well, but some also want NIU to do it the right away.
Now, maybe NIU did their homework and it was one dumb mistake, and now the kid matures and figures things out, but I think it's appropriate for some to have concerns with the situation.
Obviously there's a line, but it was petty theft. I think we can pick and choose the talent we bring in to the football program because we've reached that level, but at this point the basketball team needs to acquire as much talent as possible.
Judging from the article, he probably stole $20 worth of money. It's dumb no doubt, but it's not enough to not bring him here.

looks like Nadar with a motor...........the "closer to home" thing only flies if one has a sick or dying relative.....outside chance and NCAA has been more leniant of late but unless he announced that at time of transfer, likely to be turned down if he applies---the fact that he is quoted as saying the transfer is about "PT" will NOT help...nonetheless, whether or not his "close to home" reason will bly, this dude can fly...
