Korcek mentions the Dog Pound!
In KORCEK'S CORNER today, Mike mentions the Dog Pound as a "media entity or wannabe" for getting and releasing scoops. Here's the quote:
"Knowledge is power in any hierarchy.
Simple human nature. Who doesn’t want to be the power broker to tip off the Chicago Tribune or Daily Chronicle? Sometimes, these are administrators, faculty-staff committee members, alums, boosters, donors – all sworn to secrecy – but who too often cannot resist the temptation to become an off-the-record media source or an unofficial spokesperson. On the other side, whether it’s the Chronicle, Tribune, ESPN, WGN-AM, Yahoo! Sports, or even the DOG POUND, every media entity or wannabe wants a scoop and to release the news first. Official channels, who needs them?"

Thanks. I always aspired to be a comedian, but I was afraid people would laugh at me.

Reminds me of an old Far Side cartoon, of a clown in a gun shop looking at the guns, thinking, "laugh at me, will they?"
