RE: O/T CMU hire
Awful, awful hire.

Davis is not a leader of men. He deflects academic and recruiting responsibilities almost exclusively.

His issues have been well documented. He single-handedly detroyed a program with a respectable basketball tradition.

Those clowns in Mount Pleasant are going to be in the basement of the MAC West for a long time.

Check out the lengthy Providence comment that I cut and pasted onto our board...via the CMU rivals board.

It does not paint a pretty picture of Keno.

Should we take bets on who gets canned first? Keno, Enos or Heeke?
Could not disagree more with regards to Keno Davis. Dan Enos is in over his head as football coach, so my money would be on Enos. If I was a WMU fan, I'd worry MORE about your lame basketball coach and program.

Wow.

What on earth gives you any inclination that Keno is a good hire? After reading multiple opinions on the guy, I'd say about 90% think he is a bad hire? Whether or not that proves to be true...only time will tell.

That lame bball coach has owned EMU over the last nine years. Kudos to Murphy and Co. for beating us twice this year, I'm really looking forward to the 2013 matchups next year.
Because I lived in Des Moines and WATCHED Keno Davis coach Drake for 5 years. Drake is an UNWINNABLE situation and he brought it to a TOP 15 level, 28-5 record and National Coach of the Year. Make no mistake, he was coaching that team the entire time his dad, Tom was listed as "head coach." I saw him take point guard Adam Emmenecker, a former walk-on and 12th man under Tom Davis to Missouri Valley player of the year. I lived across the street from Drake's campus and visited the Knapp Center numerous times for games. I saw their arena filled with 7,000 screaming fans. I saw a team that played exciting, smart basketball with numerous 3 pointers and very few turnovers. I was a HUGE Drake Bulldogs fans. I watched them own the University of Iowa and Iowa State in basketball. I trust my basketball knowledge on this situation over those who just read stuff written by disgruntled Providence "fans" who haven't had a good team in ages.

NO ONE could have won at Providence in the 3 years that Davis was there, yet he had a winning overall record. You can think what you want but Hawkins at Western is not even in the same stratosphere as Keno Davis and you will see for yourself in the coming seasons.

Disagree there. He brought some big time recruits into Providence and had one of the best players in the Big East (MarShon Brooks) and he STILL couldn't get them out of the cellar. No excuses can be made for his tenure at Providence. He was a terrible coach and had ZERO control over the players.

And to say Hawkins isn't in the same stratosphere is unreasonable. Keno has four years of head coaching experience. One was a terrific season in the weakest MVC in the last decade, and the other 3 were disasters. I don't think much of Hawkins, but he had been pretty consistent at providing a competitive product on the court. And his issues with team control are minimal in comparison to Davis's at PC.

RE: O/T CMU hire
I don't know if there is a more controversial hire that could have been made by CMU.

Drake's record has been the following in the 4 years he left

18-16 2011-12
13-18 2010-11
14-19 2009-10
17-16 2008-09

How is that "unwinnable"?

It's not about Prividence not having a good team in the 3 seasons he coached them...it's more about the off the court problems that occured frequently under his watch.

You kind of reinforced my point with Drake's records since he left. For real fun, you should have seen what Drake's records were prior to Tom and Keno Davis, oh and you can use a sample size going back to say, 1971. It was always known that you can't win at Drake.

How the f*#k would you know? You've never watched a Drake or Providence game in your life.

Uh, just so you know, every team in the Big East has big time recruits, Providence just happened to have far fewer. Oh, and the players in trouble were inherited.

RE: O/T CMU hire
You can't call a situation "unwinnable" when they've gone 7 games under .500 in 4 years total. If they posted single digit wins in two of those years, then yeah, I would agree with you. It's not like they are light years away from having a winning record and/or 20 win campaigns. You talk like Drake is gonna go 4-26 or 8-22 every year.

And giving credit to Keno when his dad was in fact the coach is ridiculous. Lots of people are great assistants, and end up being horrible head coaches.

The problem players weren't all inherited. I'd get your facts straight.
