Is Stan the new standard
for defense? Holding Cal to 13 points in the first half!

It isn't by accident.

Ugly, ugly, ugly. Just the way South Florida likes it.

"We get mad when people score, no matter what kind of bucket it is," said Victor Rudd, who had 15 points. "And that's what makes us have people scoring in the 50s, 40s. We don't like it when people score at all, not even on a free throw.

"So we get mad at each other, and that's how we play great defense."

Other teams exult when one of their players hits a big basket. The Bulls cheer from the bench as the other team passes the ball around helplessly and hopelessly.

Stan has instituted a culture there. It seems to be working.

And it is not like Cal is "challeneged" offensively. They averaged 72 points per game, shot 47.9% overall and 36.8% from the arc for the season.

When is the last time Arkansas won a first round game in the NCAA? Did it happen with Pelphrey? I can't recall.

I think Stan is headed back to the Sweet 16. Those guys are hell to play against.

I don't have the interest to look it up on the internet. I think Pel went to the NCAA his first year at Arkansas. I don't recall if they won a game, and I do not care.

Go Trojans!

Go Trojans!

Not only did they go to the NCAA tourney in his first year, but they beat Indiana in the first round. I looked it up.

He played the wrong kind of ball. Fayetteville had rather lose on the playground than win slowed down. Really. Homage to Nolan - and I do not mean that in a negative sense. They just will not consider any other style now since the success of the 90's.

It's funny. When Nolan got here they wanted Eddie ball back. Now they just want playground ball. I guess now they got what they wanted.

The hogs will be back to the sweet 16 in a year and the elite 8 before you know it.

Stan and pel were let go because of butts in the seats and reports of the kids not respecting them.

Anderson's teams don't play good on the ball defense and don't rotate well to stop drive to the lane when in the half court, thus the difference in the mizz team this year.

What they do well is throw knuckle balls. That works until to get matched up with equal talent, a good pg and a go floor coach. In the ncaa tournament you are going have to beat that combination of things by the second weekend.
