We all want to think these under the radar guys are diamonds in the rough but most of the time there are reasons they are under the radar.

Boston College, Oregon, Florida State, Nebraska, Va. Tech, DePaul, and Dayton also offered per J. Martin at Scout. Hardly a mid-major talent.

Those are some perennial powers I'll give you that. Anyways my only point is our standards have lowered and that can't be good.

I am not of the "school" that believes we should have 13- 5 star recruits on any team. Kids like this (Wilbut)can ,and will, be very good contributors. So are mature Seniors and Juniors. Next year could have 8 that are scholarship players and a few more that walk-on. That REALLY helps a team to win. Sure you gotta have talent, but....
Would you want a young, 5 star pg on the free throw line (D-Wash) in an important game(Louisville)? Tough, tough position to put a kid into, no matter how good he is. Why is it that X can't win the "big one"? Not enuf maturity on the team cuz there are LOTS of "1 and dones".
Again, JMHO.

I could not agree more. To simply grab at the 5's is silly. You got to have a team and chemistry is king. All 5's is not chemistry, it's simple math.

One thing to keep in mind ---

When you see schools like Missouri St. and Dayton offering a kid --- he's usually a kid that's been overlooked (size, late bloomer, etc.)

When you see schools like Ole Miss, Auburn offering a kid --- he's usually a high major talent and there's a reason all the legit high majors have overlooked him

Yep. And by "overlooked", you're not going to find a guy who will be the next Michael Jordan, but you will find a lot of guys who will turn out to be solid role players over the course of their FOUR years playing college ball.
