I'm struggling to believe ECU really wants to sign our rights away to a league with zero real eastern presence and a completely unknown TV value.

I think that ECU is one that is pushing it quite frankly. They kinow they have 0 chance probably to go anywhere- so they want to lock everyone else in as well.

It will come down to that moment when a major broadcaster says they will give a very sweet deal to the Alliance in return for the alliance members signing over their tv rights to the alliance in order to collectively bargain.

It all depends on the difference of numbers between a contract for an Alliance with no signing of tv rights vs the numbers of a contract to the Alliance that has signed over tv rights.

There's no one there we really give a crap about being locked with except Marshall and USM, and they are as likely to get a call as we are. The rest of that bunch is just warm bodies to the majority of ECU fans (not necessarily saying that's my opinion). I guess assuming there was going to be a big bump in revenue for signing our rights over as opposed to not doing it then it might happen, but I don't think it's going to.

The thing that Temple going Big East does is eliminate really any shot of the alliance going into the Northeast. The only FBS schools in the Northeast now are UMass and Buffalo. That's it.

Heck- the only teams left on the eastern time zone in FBS currently:
Akron, Bowling Green, Kent St, Miami Ohio, Ohio U, C Michigan, E Michigan, Florida International, Florida Atlantic

Which is why Villanova's friends are no longer standing by them in blocking Temple.

True and the rumors prior to Temple going to the BE were that UMass might come to the Alliance with them plus 1 other MAC team. Don't know how close to reality that is or was. Also the F_U schools are known to be on the Alliance radar. Maybe now instead of one of either FIU/FAU it could be both.

1 other team in the NE that I failed to memtion- Army....

Temple to me is a huge non get for the Alliance. It was the 1 real hope on the east coast for relevancy that they could add.

I think it may have to be both FIU/FAU.

Absolutely. No denying that. Now if the Alliance could somehow get Army interested, which I doubt, that would remove some of the sting of not getting Temple.
