RE: Can Obama overcome his inept energy policy?
I don't know whether Obama can overcome it or not, but if the republicans keep talking about contraception, he won't have to.

Republicans are driving me up the wall with their inability to forge any kind of message. I know it hurts that the candidate hasn't been identified yet, but aren't there some things they all agree on? Actually, other than abortion and gay rights, I can't really think of any, and I don't agree with the republican establishment on either of those.

There should have been a comprehensive republican energy plan years ago, and everybody should be singing from the same sheet. Instead, they let Obama get away with comments like, "we can't drill our way out of this." We can't. But we also can't get out of it in any way WITHOUT drilling. Drilling is therefore a necessary condition but not a sufficient one, and there should be some comprehensive republican plan that acknowledges that. Instead we have Gingrich saying that if we just drill everywhere, gasoline will go to $2/gallon. It won't, but that's not a reason not to drill everywhere we can.
