Both have great history in both major $$ sports, and the enthusiasm imho would be back, and their attendance would get a big bump by having USM, ECU, and Marshall on their schedules every year. Would be great rivals for all the east members, and good programs.

Fan support is difficult in Toledo because it lies in the heart of the Big Ten. A big part of gaining respect is playing (and playing well) teams that non-fans have heard of. I've done some extremely informal polling in sports bars and very few locals knew what ECU, UTEP or USM stood for or what conference they belonged to. (I'd be shocked if people in El Paso could tell me what EMU stands for too) They're only somewhat more aware of Big East teams. It's sad and disgusting, but most were brought up Big 10 and that's all they care about.
