Yeah I haven't understood why we haven't tried to develop our younger players more. Who exactly does the coaching staff expect to shoulder the load next year?

“We’ve always run a lot of the same sets in the nine years I’ve been here,” said coach Murry Bartow, “and we do struggle at times to score the ball consistently. Some games it’s both halves. Some games it’s one half, and we figure out how to turn it on. “We’re good in transition, and we’ve got to get more easy baskets. In the half court, we’re good on the glass and getting second chances. We just haven’t been making a lot of open shots.”

I'm really perplexed at this man's reasoning?? Despite the overwhelming evidence, he continues to dig in his heels with the same approach. And his tone is almost incredulous, as if he cannot figure it out?

Today's unsung (probably) hero: Marcus Dubose.
Don't know how many rebounds he had, but it was a *bunch*. He worked hard all game. Didn't score a lot, but was very key to the win.

I also liked the way they let Cooley and Jarvis handle the ball up top a lot, letting Sollazzo be at the high post. I think that somehow helped Isaiah get his touches and points. Unfortunately, that won't work with most teams, who have better offensive/defensive guards. I thought the refs let Cooley get away with several palmed balls, too. That being said, his first step is probably the best and fastest in the league (which I've said before).

Very unevenly officiated game, I thought. But that call at the end of the first half was the correct one, imo.
Thought murry was going to go ballistic every time Parker Smith hit one of his long ones. He and Wagers were both more animated while we were on defense than usual.

Nice analysis...Isiah was exceptional in the post and frankly owned the UNF frontcourt. I applaud the persistence of the offense in feeding him the ball. It has also been great to see the improvements in Sheldon's outside game. His killer crossover has always been his best move, but he is now showing consistency from the perimeter.

I am really rooting for Marcus. As poster' said, he was great defensively with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. He is an explosive leaper, and grabbed several tough boards tonight. I have NO DOUBT that Dubose's scoring difficulty is purely psychological. Bartow MUST stop hammering these guys for missing shots, or even the occasional bad shot. In this particular instance, with these particular players, it is counterproductive. In the first half, Adam took a tough shot (though not an ill-advised shot) and Bartow stomped and yelled "Adam, whyyyy...." Adam did not appear rattled on that possession, but it seemed to create that split-second hesitation on later possessions.

Lastly, although I'm reluctant to criticize what was an otherwise a solid win, but 5 guys played at least 30 minutes. Besides the obvious downside of such a tight rotation (e.g., fatigue), I think this approach conveys a lack of confidence in our bench and will have long-term consequences; namely, next year our sophomores will be freshman in terms of their game-time experience.

*IF* we have any sophomores to return. No, I don't "know" anything, but I'd be shocked if either Woumn or Wilson doesn't leave, or both of them, and truly I wouldn't be shocked if Walton and/or Rembert leaves. And imagine if you were a freshman being recruited..... Most freshmen want to go somewhere they can play a bit as freshmen. bartow surely can't point to his teams lately and promise that.
I think it's absurd to be up 15 most of the last 8-10 minutes and not let any of those guys get some game experience (and yes, I know Rembert got in briefly, but not towards the end).

Can't believe they only credited Dubose with 8 boards. I would have thought 10-12....

I believe that Rembert will be the only freshman back next year. I would not blame any of them for leaving.
