That includes UAB, so I say no to the NFL as well.
To some degree, I respectfully disagree. Does this theory fly in Nashville? Both the Titans and the Commodores look to be well-supported from my vantage point Are the Falcons causing headaches for the Bulldogs of UGA and Georgia Tech?. Is the presence of the Panthers and Bobcats in Charlotte hampering attendance for the Tar Heels and Wolfpack, where also an NHL franchise resides? Are the Saints cutting into LSU profits? I could on and on citing precedents that I feel lend credence to the argument that this excuse doesn't fly, but it just might in Birmingham. There are exceptions to the rule, but in my case, if we had both, I'm going to support both, and I'm a working-class slob, yet, I'm gonna find a way within reason, to be there for the Blazers and whatever true professional team we might have had...But that race has already been run, and we lost. There are no more bites at that "apple" for Birmingham, its' potential for that kind of thing has been squandered and relinquished.Having a professional sports team, especially an NFL team, doesn't hurt your city's sports climate, it enhances it greatly. Of course, we'll never know or get to find out... Go Blazers!!!!
