Believed all along he was going to be a UofM walk-on or go Ivy League.

Translation - Gibbs will be the UM fan with the best seat in the house.

I was still thinking that somehow we would steal this kid and he would rather come here and play and not sit on the sideline for Michigan..

Again everyone, I am new to EMU but is this the normal for us? A kid would rather walk-on and take a chance of not playing football, rather then coming to a college (EMU) that will pay for your college education and would allow you a chance to play.

WTF.. Call me dumb!!!!!

I think kids like Gibbs should take off their 'Blue Shades" and be a lot more open minded.

What some of these kids, including the kid Glasglow from last year should realize, is that within the MAC there are some schools with excellent academics and NATIONAL reputations.

Miami has tremendous academics and a very beautiful campus, UB has great academics. UMass too. And others.

(It's been a while since I checked but some MAC schools are rated higher than some Big Ten schools. EDIT: MIA and UMass are both top 100 schools in the U.S. News and World Report rankings for '12. UB and Ohio are just outside the top 100. Miami's campus is nicer then UofM's. Four MAC schools: Mia, UB, UMass and Ohio are ranked higher than LSU. ).

I just don't think 17 year olds have a true national vision.

Curious if they are going 100K in debt to walk-on at UofM vs. a Miami?

They are still rating schools by what they see on Saturdays or January 1 and not the schools as they really are.
Mommy and daddy are footing the bill so they can brag about their kid to the neighbors. Why not get college paid for thru sports (and actually play) THEN get your Masters from the beloved M? I actually blame the parents, just another superficial status symbol.
