i want coach k to succeed, but we need to maximize our roster, have an effective defensive approach, and give these kids a clear idea of what we are trying to do on the court. they are losing focus. western played an 8 man rotation until they were up 20. depth is an excuse for not being able to close out tight games. it is not an excuse for looking unprepared, not using the strengths of your roster, and coming out flat 2 out of every 3 games.

Maybe he said something different in another interview, but the one on WSPD on my way home from the game was not very positive. He said Wonnel is a great kid, then proceeded to talk about the team and didn't say anything positive about his play.

The post-game interview on 1370 was where he said he was Unbelievably proud of Wonnel and he said a couple other things about his toughness and improvement in practice. He stated that he told AJ Mathew and Wonnel they'd be playing against Ball because he needs to build in minutes for them so they can be prepared for conference minutes and talked about their hard work in practice. Not sure which postgame show you heard or if you got in late but he was just short of effusive in his praise of Wonnel.

I am also very frustrated and disappointed with the extremely poor performance today against WMU. However, I think that we need to wait until the end of the season to judge the progress that Coach K has made with the program. This team is certainly better than the teams of the past two years. That being said, they should not be getting blown out on the road against a MAC West team. Let's wait and see what happens. They currently have 8 wins. If they don't win more than 10 games this season, then we may have a problem.

Same guy that hired Cullop, Beckman, Campbell, gave Hadsell an extension, etc. etc. You know- the AD who oversees a program that already has two MAC championships this year and may get a third in swimming this winter. That guy.

I understand that football and wbb are in great hands. But none of this mbb mess is his fault? Cause we're good in swimming and cross country?

No, but its extremely naive to think that any AD isn't going to have a bad hire. And I'd hardly say its we're only good in X-country and swimming. Soccer wins championships, women's hoops win conference championships and the WNIT, Men's tennis had their best year in many years, women's golf is improving yearly, track is still struggling but puts out All-Americans and All-Conference athletes, Men's x-country is better than they have ever been and they don't even have a track team. I could add that the guy who hired Cross (a highly recommended assistant at Notre Dame who had received some notice as the best young recruiter in the nation prior to his hire) also has overseen a huge upgrade in facilities and has shown a knack for keeping coaches that were prized by bigger programs (Cullop and Hadsell). You asked the question "who's idea was it to hire (Cross)? - I answered it.

and during pregame of the WMU game, after his interview with Mark Beier, I actually wondered out loud how interested Coach K was in rebuilding this team and does he have the enthusiasm for it?

is UT men's basketball a culture of losing now?
