The right to be called X is earned...not bestowed upon a school to help twist the knife. This is what ULM needs to realize. You are only named that way because they needed a patsy to take the fall. You were stupid enough to think that getting this name was going to advance you somewhere you had no place being. The truth hurts.

What UL did in 1984 was perfectly legal in every way, that is until it rubbed someone in the wrong way. It was a petty, childish act to perpetrate on a fellow state school. Yet, the entire state went along with it, and toed the party line. Now we are the ones who are petty and immature? Please, save your insults. We earned it, we deserved it, and we had it taken from us. Had the same law that challenged UL's name change been applied retroactively then ULM would still be known as Ouchita Parish Junior College. How does that sound? Sounds fitting to me.

To anyone else on this board who can't take the hint, that's fine. But, honestly, let's not throw a hissy fit everytime a Cajun fan dislikes or has a problem with it. You should expect something to happen. Cause and effect. The same thing would happen if you used a racial slur in the wrong group of people. You would expect a response. So...call us Louisiana or UL or by all means...expect a response.
