Great info., fan1-thanks for relaying.

Ugochukwa is an intriguing prospect. He has put up modest offensive numbers but appears to be a potent shot blocker: 4.6 bpg. He also pulls down 9 boards per game. Even if he's raw offensively (averaged 8.8 ppg this season at Oakland C.C.), he could fill a crucial shot-blocking need after losing one of the best ever in Zeke.

~This year, McClain averaged 21 points, five assists and three steals per game and pushed the Rams to the Class 5A state semifinals in Birmingham.
“He put us all on his back and carried us all the way to Birmingham,” Faith Academy coach John Price said.

~The 6-foot McClain’s uncanny open-court ability as a point guard earned him a spot on the 5A All-State team, and he signed with East Tennessee State.

~Petey is an outstanding talent and young man and had a phenomenal season,” said Price, noting that McClain holds 15 school records. “His greatest year, this year, is by far his most outstanding.”

RE: Recruits for 2012-2013
According to the blog below, Mississippi State guard and Knoxville native Jalen Steele may be looking to transfer to ETSU. The coaching change at MSU has prompted the MSU faithful to speculate about all sorts of possibilities, so I think Steele transferring (anywhere) is a long shot. Nevertheless, Steele is a terrific shooter and would be a great addition for the 2013-14 class (he would have to sit out next season). Steele may be someone to keep our eyes on.

...So there's a history of him not liking coaching change...and it's been rumored that he could be interested in Tennessee or ETSU. Jalen is from Knoxville, TN.

I do not see MSU releasing Steele to an SEC school so this could bode well for ETSU. He would be a huge get, can flat out shoot the three.

I like the looks of this kid. He's smooth and skilled, has good length, and plays more of a face-up game. He's a strong student, too. A number of schools are interested in Houston (Rivals), but only Wichita State has offered thus far. Bartow has said on several occasions that he wants a true '3', which Houston seems to be. Given that we have not yet extended an offer, it makes me think that we're holding out for someone else.

According to this tweet, he will sign with us on Wednesday:
https://twitter.com/#!/search/kinard%20g...20gilliard

If this is in fact accurate, I like this pick up a great deal. At 6'6" 240, Kinard is physical, versatile, and tough. I'm also fairly certain he'll have 3 years of eligibility.

Gadsen-Gillards looks like a good pickup, I would like to see us land Harrison 6'6 225 and Houston 6'7 190 I would be pretty happy with that and get another PG (maybe JUCO) to replace Woumn.

How many scholarships do we have left to offer after McClain and Mario? I was thinking three?

If Woumn is gone that will be 4 more (thats why I said use his for another PG)

We lost 3 seniors, didn't use 1 last year so that is 4. Ward's is 5 and Woumn would be 6.

Both Hunter Harris and Gadsen Gillard have verballed. If those stick that leaves us 2 more.

This may very well be what kept Bartow in Johnson City. The idea of having this guy and possibly getting a hardship waiver so he's eligible immediately would be massive. Any word?

Rumors are that Steele will join former Fulton HS teammate James Gallman at MTSU. I think the above link incorrectly mentioned ETSU rather than MTSU...But that's just rumor.

good to hear bout Harris and Gadsen Gillard. If we get the big 6'11 kid this weekend, you think he goes for a true 3 with the last scholly? I dont think we need another pg. Let the two freshman play if and Cooley can play some if needed. Wish we could get a high school big man

Only one of the two guards signed from Alabama is PG the other is a pure shooter. That would leave us with a true freshman PG and Cooley who is not a good PG, he struggled big time against even token pressure last year bringing the ball up. We need to try and find a JUCO PG.

I too prefer Cooley at the 2 (or even at the 3), with occasional duty at point, but he's a simply better off the ball than on. I suspect Bartow will go for a swingman for this 4th available scholarship.

I'd be okay with another high school point guard. At one point, we were showing interest in Stramaglia's teammate, Matthias Sigurdarson.

Brief article about Gadsden-Gilliard's signing:
http://www.carolinalive.com/sports/story...4TbVKj46J4

I stated earlier that Kinard will have 3 years of eligibility, but I might be wrong about that. I think he redshirted his freshman season (see article below) so that he would have 3 years of D1 eligibility, but ended up playing 2 years at Roane State.

I think overall cooley is better off the ball but with him,Jarvis,Dubose,Rembert, and the freshman we got guards. I think we need someone that can attack the basket and score so i hope we can find a wing.
