RE: New Article from CBS Sports.... Army/Navy & Terry Holland Interview
Here is an interview Terry Holland did yesterday for 99.9 The Fan (ESPN Radio)....a RALEIGH radio station. The host, David Glenn, is the owner of ACCSports.com. He used to cover ECU along with all ACC teams in his magazine but had to drop them in 2003 when the ACC expanded because he just couldn't cover the additional teams by himself. He has done radio for a long time and now has the ability to expand his coverage. He stated his first order of business was to get the Pirates back under his radio coverage and extend his reach into Greenville. This past year the show has also been broadcast on a Greenville station...wonder why he has ECU guests on and now broadcasts in Greenville? (it sure isn't just because of ACC fans in the East).
Terry Holland talks about expansion briefly and revisits the DMA question and ECU's draw across NC. Not much new here but it sometimes makes a difference to hear it the way TH himself says it. Terry Holland and Ruffin McNeill are regular guests. Skip Holtz was a regular guest when the show was only aired in the Raleigh market. Yes, we have no draw outside of the tiny town of Greenville.

Wish CUSA as a conference became AQ. CUSA has much more upside than the BE, and would quickly overshadow the BE as an AQ Conference (ex; unranked uconn to a bcs game, that turned out to be very low in the tv ratings also).
Still rather be in a southern conference.

I can't say I agree with him on the upside thing but I'd prefer to be in a southern AQ conference too. That isn't going to happen...just isn't...and the Big East is a good conference for East Carolina to land in.
It was interesting to hear TH say the combined Greenville, Raleigh and Charlotte markets equal the Dallas market (what a huge market ) and how well ECU drew, comparatively speaking, in those markets. If ECU is already getting numbers like that in multiple markets comparable to Dallas that has to turn heads somewhere along the way. Hope that pays off.
