if you do not like someone refering to your University by a name you don't like (yet is still legally accepted) there is little to nothing you can do about it on an internet message board. That's just a sad reality.
I do however want to encourage everyone to call them "Louisiana." not necessarily for their fans who ask us to, but because it makes the Conference look better to have more marketable names like that. ULL, UL-Lafayette, etc...do not sound as marketable and respectable as "Lousiana." it makes sense.
There is no law saying they have to, but they have been educated in UL's request and at that point it's about disrespect period. There have been a number of schools in the Sun Belt that have changed their names, it really shouldn't be such an issue for those schools or their fans. And before someone brings up ULM, remember they have requested that you call them "ULM" and not Louisiana-Monroe. If we stick to the facts and leave the insults out, it really comes down to respecting someone's request. It that simple!
