You might say they have a 'menage a trois'?

You really are missing out on the best part of the article in my opinion:
Tech has never had sellout in the stadium's current capacity of 30,600.
AND I never thought I'd feel sorry for Jimmy Johnson but, THIS....
"Jimmy Johnson and I watch every Louisiana Tech game that's on television, and there's nothing more embarrassing than for me to be sitting there — and Jimmy will start laughing — when we opened up a couple years ago with Mississippi State, and they panned up into the stadium and it looked like half the place was empty. That's embarrassing."
Separation...
From their senses...
and from reality.

How do you not sell 27,000 tickets for an SEC team in your freaking season opener???? Figure 3,000 students getting in free and you've got a sellout.
ASU drew more people for Southern Miss and their Hattiesburg based fans had a much longer trip than Miss.St.'s Starkville fans so it wasn't because of traveling fans.

Terry Bradshaw seems like a nice guy, but he just played too many games without his helmet.
I don't know if he ever really said it or not, but the quote "I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid" will forever be connected with his name.

Name one current FBS team that is not already in the SBC, who wouldn't say the same thing.
Utah St., SJSU, Idaho and NMSU. If they are being honest at least. Bradshaw is not known for being "bright".
If it was a step up for them, that step would be very small... I'd say an insignificant step up at best.
It is a significant step up from what the WAC is going to be. Boise St. is not walking through that door.

Which is exactly why it makes sense to ask to come to the Sun Belt for them. You certainly are not going to increase attendance with the new WAC and more likely it will drop. The budget situation and the loss of WAC revenue will mean more need for money games that don't help attendance.
If the egos weren't involved, Tech would move to a more regional conference that offers better travel, a better budget, better crowds and if they are as strong as they believe, they would be in a bowl game every year and the NCAA tournament in the SB. Put your money where your mouth is and "dominate" the Belt for a few years and show CUSA that they should stop ignoring you.
If you can't dominate the Sun Belt then you didn't belong in CUSA after all.

Whatever.
ESPN will either force their hands, or at some point they'll realize their pride will be their undoing. If we're inviting anyone anytime soon, I'll be shocked if it isn't Tech. They may not accept and then their pride will be their undoing, but personally I'm still in favor of their fans kicking and screaming on the way in and crying when they start losing, rather than extending the footprint 1,000 miles westward to Las Cruces.
