I thought the same thing- "Nothing to do BUT eat?" What else do you need?

So the Rocket fans are hanging out at Hockeytown Cafe?

"Need?" Don't think it's about needs but I can eat at home. Detroit has things Toledo doesn't but they don't seem to be part of the Bowl program in the least.

Is there a half-time show maybe? Anything "Detroitish" about this at all or is the indoor stadium supposed to be the attraction?

Just read in the Detroit News, Toledo has sold 5K of its 10K allotment. That is pathetic for only being 60 miles away. I will never understand why the Toledo community doesn't embrace the Rockets as their home town team.

I for one bought mine through ticket master. Much cheaper for me to purchase four for the price of two than to go through the university. I don't like it but I have to look at it through an economic lens instead of a loyalty one. Not saying the university needs to lower the prices, but I have to do what is best for me.

It's not as bad as it sounds. Many people bought through other options than the UT ticket office because they could get them cheaper, so they didn't count towards UT's allotment.

From what it sounds like though, that the bowl isn't worried about empty seats with a projected 40,000 attendance. Toledo will have around 15-20,000 there but mostly from people who purchased elsewhere. Not to worry.

It's my understanding that UT must pay for tickets they were allotted and did not sell. That would be a big hit to the athletic department budget. So it does hurt when people go elsewhere to buy tickets.

Yep, that's how it works. UT must sell a certain amount of tickets to be eligible for the bowl payoff. The bowl doesn't care if they are sold to actual people, if you get what I mean.

I'm starting to, but "people" here don't want to hear, which makes this sentence circular.

Anyhow, not the least of the reasons may be because you can't turn on a tv and see a Rocket game! UT needs it's own public/sports broadcasting station.

There's nothing "Bowl" special about this game, neither from the effort of UT nor particularly from Detroit. Detroit has plenty of potential for entertainment. Their committee (headed by a UT grad) just didn't deliver.

The prices through UT were just too much for me for what amounts to just an extra in-season game and I haven't come across a less expensive option.

If 40,000 do show, it may be those that wanted to see Toledo just took a different option to buying their ticket. Through thought or ignorance I don't know. Of more importance is how many students go. If for example, they got 5000 students (no particular importance to that number), I would think that amazing support.
