The RPI in basketball has to be address. Here we are on bracketbuster Saturday and at 22 rpi and no top 100 rpi teams. If UMass and Temple won't commit to basketball longterm the MAC must say no. MAC can't just ignore basketball and hope EMU and NIU magically will become top 100 teams. Football is the only leverage the MAC has. If MAC is ok with Temple and UMass for football, only then MAC should explore other options in basketball. Oakland and IUPUI would be to quick adds the west divison. Both have rpi's that would be top of the west division. Adding another Michigan team may spice up those rivalry games. IUPUI would be a good rival for Ball State. If we go up to 16, I would look at the Horizon and east division. Cleveland State and Wright State may consider the MAC as the games vs the Ohio MAC schools would be attractive. Having the MAC tournament in Cleveland might get CSU to join. 22 games MAC schedule. That may be our best chance to upgrade basketball without Temple and UMass
