I think a reason behind MAC expansion is that we are making a power play. Every FBS team has representation in the BCS and NCAA. By being the biggest conference, we become the biggest voting block. We are also losing votes to the BCS thanks to Utah and TCU and possibly a few others changing conferences. The non-BCS contingent needs to add more to its ranks if it doesn't want to simply be voted out of the money. When TCU and Utah leave, the BCS will have 67 teams to the non-BCS's 53, instead of the current 65-55 balance. Villanova would tip the balance even more to the BCS. The non-BCS need to band together, bring up more FCS teams and close that gap if they want to survive.
