Chase Robinson
This one caught me by total surprise, but I really like the apparent addition of Chase Robinson. His writeup on the Duquesne web site:
Lee High School in Huntsville, Ala. (head coach Greg Brown) ... averaged 23.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists as a senior for 18-11 Huntsville, Ala. Lee High School ... earned Class 5A first team all-state honors ... was also a finalist for 2008 Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 5A Mr. Basketball ... scored a career-high 36 points against Huntsville J.O. Johnson as a senior ... averaged 19.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as a junior.
This is a kid we would have been really excited about if we had signed him out of high school, and while we have to burn a year for the transfer I am really glad that we spent a scholarship on him. Alabama 5A high school basketball is a very high level division, so he didn't put these stats up against a bunch of scrubs. He didn't get any burn at Duquesne, but sometimes all that is needed is a fresh start. Hopefully he will challenge our guards in practice all year, and come ready to earn some time next fall.

That is only 12 scholarships right there....since we got our APR schollies back this year, I believe we would have enough to take everyone and still have one left over. Would give us room to perhaps grab a transfer over the Christmas Break or just save it for next year.
Uncross 'em.
He's at Southern Poly.

Did Woods have a difficult time playing second fiddle to Cummings?

This sounds about right to me. Woods was the 2nd leading scorer but he was also a bit of a chucker and a horrible FT shooter.
Ok, let's resist the temptation to hate!
Sure, he took too many ill-advised shots, but there was no penalty. And he never really shot enough freethrows to hurt us really badly in that area, although he could have been better. He only did what was allowed to do because more focus was on other players (Green, Cummings and Dixon) performing in their roles for the betterment of the team. Let's face it, as long as Woods could smile, dunk, was a threat at the 3 and bought energy he was going to get major minutes.
Too bad when they recruited him (and it wasn't Ingle ) they only thought about putting butts in the seats because of his athletic ability. :ncaabbs:
