That's been the talk down here the last few days, especially on the radio shows.

UT came up a bit, which would have been a huge slap in UGA's face, but it doesn't sound that likely.

the talk has been hes leaning heavy to UC?

btw, i dont have problem with it....similar to lance and we also seemed to do alright with alex daniels who had issue in minnesota previously.

No, the talk has been he's headed to UofL. Easier shot at the starting job there.

RE: Georgia QB... to UC...??
talk today from buddy down thurr.. kid wants to start.. just like oleskl says.. he has a better shot at UofL.. direct quote from buddy.. "It's either UC or UL.. UC has better program.. UL has better starting chances".. soo read into it how you may want.. but it sounds like UC's QB situation may have pushed the kid to that crappy program down there..

is it just me or is it sweet to hear UC has a better program.. than other programs esp in the BEast..

I dont think he'd have a problem seeing the field at UC. After Collaros is gone I still dont see a sure-fire starting QB over the next 2-3 seasons on the roster. This kid would be.

Going to U of L is an incredibly risky move IMO. Strong has never run a program or coached a single game as a Head Man. He could be Ed Orgeron / John Blake part III for all we know.

I think UC football is in a position they shouldn't have to take risks on kids with baggage. Plus QB seems to be a position of a strength for UC.

It would make more sense if he was a LB or DL

Exactly. We're the type of program that doesn't need to always go out on a limb and take these types of kids. I mean, the kid is flat out banned from the city of Valdosta, Georgie?!?!?!?!? My oh my!!!!!

You think Mettenberger would be a lock to be the starting QB after Collaros graduates? The guy has never played a down in college football so all we have to go off of are his high school accolades. I think that by 2012 we will be in for a huge QB competition. Kay will be a 5th year senior and Kater and Munchie will have had two years in the program already to develop. Coyne would've had a year already at that point as well. I can't see any QB coming in and being guaranteed the starting spot with all of the talent we'll have at that position.

The word down in Georgia is that Mettenberger had incredible talent. Most people would tell you (UGA fans) that he was the more talented QB between himself and the incredibly hyped Aaron Murray. The problem is, apparently Richt made all kinds of promises to Murray when he recruited him out of high school. I'm just going by what people have said about the kid throughout his redshirt freshman year and how impressive he has been in practices, etc...

I dont think for a second UC would "guarantee" him the QB spot, I just think he'd win the job rather easily post Collaros.

Quote:May 5, 2010 Athens, GA– Former UGA QB Zach Mettenberger Confirms School Opportunities Exclusively with Kelin Johnson on kelinjohnson.com

Things are turning around for former UGA QB Zach Mettenberger, who confirmed exclusively with kelinjohnson.com on Tuesday, that he has at least two scholarship offers on the table: One from the University of Cincinnati under Head Coach Butch Jones and Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach Mike Bajakian. Zach confirms he’ll take a visit to the Bearcats on May 13th. And he’s looking at a second offer from the University of Louisville, under Head Coach Charlie Strong and Quarterback Coach Mike Groh. Mettenberger will visit the home of the Cardinals on May 7th.

“I’m excited to have another opportunity to live out my dream of playing Division 1 football,” Mettenberger said, speaking exclusively to kelinjohnson.com. “Both schools have new coaches. Louisville went to the Orange Bowl recently and Cincinnati had a great season last year. They aren’t Georgia, but I will have the chance to throw the ball more at both universities because of a spread offense.”

Mettenberger tells kelinjohnson.com that he’s had heavy interest and calls from other colleges and universities, including the University of Tennessee, USC, Texas A&M, UK, Troy State, Memphis, and Colorado, and that a number of schools have been calling to get the scoop on Mettenberger from Bulldog Offensive Coordinator, and former winning UGA quarterback Mike Bobo.

Mettenberger, who was dismissed from the team by UGA Coach Mark Richt last month, is looking forward to putting this chapter behind him, after pleading guilty to two counts of misdemeanor sexual battery Monday in Lowndes County, Georgia, where he was sentenced to probation and community service.

“I know I made a mistake and I’m not going to mess up again,” the 6’ 5’’ Mettenberger tells me. “The people who are judging me don’t really know who I am. “The people who are close to me are the ones that really matter.”

As a former UGA athlete with some firsthand knowledge of what it feels like to mess up and let down the people who believe in you, I think I know exactly how Zach is feeling. But I also believe in second chances. And right now, he’s being given a major one.

Stay connected to kelinjohnson.com for more exclusive reports on Zach Mettenberger…on the road to redemption and to a new team where he can fulfill his potential as a winning QB.

RE: Georgia QB... to UC...??
Some posters on a Louisville board are saying that Zach's visit to Louisville that was scheduled for Friday was cancelled. They're saying that Strong no longer has any interest in him. Not sure what's true but that's what is being said by their fans.

Quote:Louisville ceases pursuit of former Georgia QB

Word is circulating that Louisville has ended its pursuit of dismissed Georgia quarterback Zach Mettenberger following his plea of guilty to two misdemeanor counts of sexual battery earlier this week. He was reportedly going to visit the U of L campus this weekend before Charlie Strong sent word that he and his staff were no longer interested.

It had been widely reported that Mettenberger, a redshirt freshman who many believed was going to end up starting for the Bulldogs in 2010, had narrowed his transfer choices down to U of L and Cincinnati and would choose between the two following visits to both this month.

The situation is a bit reminiscent of when, just weeks into his Cardinal coaching career, Steve Kragthorpe opted not to pursue Arkansas transfer Mitch Mustain in an apparent effort to appease incoming freshman Matt Simms. Mustain ended up at USC and I thought the move was Kragthorpe's first major mistake on the job.

Obviously, turning away a talented kid who just plead guilty to sexual battery is extremely different than shying away from a talented kid with a couple of overbearing parents.

Strong has talent coming in at the quarterback position, and not taking a high-risk kid like Mettenberger this early in his head coaching career is the right play.
