Just to get some discussion flowing in the down time....
This guy was a 6'6 freshman who played 3 minutes all year and will likely get the redshirt tag (IMO). He's never mentioned on the board as a possible contributor. What do we actually know about him?
James McRae (6' 6, Wing, Brunswick H.S., 2009)
"Aggressive and strong bodied forward who can play the 3 or 4. Is most successful when attacking basket and made several nice baseline drives for buckets. Physical rebounder. Needs to continue to improve outside shot to play small forward position at the next level. Strong student with 3.8 GPA. Will probably receive interest from schools at all three levels of NCAA play."
"Jr. 6-5 WF James McRae- Brunswick High
James has a great touch around the basket. He has
a wide body that can bang inside and post small guards.
He can rebound and plays good defense. A D-1 prospect."

I know he's a walk-on. The question is, are walk-ons at this level of competition really that much different from scholarship players? I mean, do they really have the resources to go out and find guys like the larger schools can? Guys like Kelvin McConnell and Zadrian Gibson are major contributors and neither of them were recruited, they just showed up one day and proved themselves. So the jury's out on this guy. He has the size.

Wasn't Kelvin recruited a little bit? I would guess it depends why James walked on. Maybe he was recruited by other schools for full scholarships but had HOPE and just decided to stay near home and play D1. There's a nice little bio on the official KSU website. This stood out the most though.
"He was recruited by Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Auburn, Stanford and Jacksonville."

The whole thread is interesting.

So evidently Kelvin was not a walk-on according to rivals. I read somewhere (maybe here) that he was.
