We have a lot of athleticism and a lot of speed. Its not being used. Everytime i watch our team i always say we move to slow and hold the ball to long before we actually run a play. We also NEVER set screens for the man with the ball. I used to play basketball pretty competitively and i'm very good at reading players body language. Most of our guys dont look comfortable with our offense. Maybe they'll adjust, but i havent really seen any improvement yet.

RE: Jacksonville (Official Game Thread)- 01/04/10
We have a COMBINATION of problems in a lot of areas.

One of our problems is that we stick with things too long. Kurtis Woods makes a lot of fundamental mistakes on offense and defense at critical times (early momentum killers or momentum starters for the other team; 8 turnovers tonight between him and Dixon) but it seems as if his playing time is guaranteed every game. I would like to see Marine play more for Woods and not get pulled so quickly.

We have no rotations on defense and we have some soft players at key positions. I remember when everyone was excited about Heramb and his coming from "Auburn". So far, I have seen very little to be excited about. He certainly is not a player that we can depend on to give us production on the road (18 minutes tonight with 2 rebounds and zero points - a three point attempt included in the 0 for 3). By contrast, Daniel Emerson of Mercer played against North Florida tonight and shot 15 freethrows and had 15 rebounds --- truly an inside presence! When is the last time Jmac had a good game on the road? Anybody know? For both of these guys, home is where it's at, but forget the rest. At least Gibson tries, but he is undersized. The good part is you know what you are going to get from him. Ladarius is just too lightweight to bang inside but he does have heart. Cummings needs to improve his ballhandling and his outside shot so that he can't be defended so easily. And I am tired of hearing criticism of Whipple. Basically he is being rewarded for committing to our program when we weren't tournament eligible to give us size. For gosh sakes, he was pulled from the starting lineup ... what more can you ask for? he just doesn't have the skill level and it is our guards' fault for getting him involved in the offense.

And speaking of our guards, both of them have weaknesses. One dribbles too much and has limited skills and the other won't penetrate. Neither is smart enough to stop penetration. So when that happens, that takes us back to the "help" conversation and then .... there is Ingle, but he is only as good as the players he has to work with.

Well, here we go into a circle again. 03-banghead Have we covered everything?

91-52? Jesus. What a smashing.

Seems like things are going backwards somewhat, and all so early.

We have multiple guys that make me cringe when I see them on the floor. JMac is extremely inconsistent, Gibson has one positive quality (vertical leap), and Whipple just isn't very good. I almost think Whipple has regressed.

KB you can't ship all the blame away from Ingle. I'm not saying he's soley at fault but in team sports.. your play is a direct reflection of your head coach. Its his job to bring in and develop talent. Its his job to prepare a gameplan to give us the best chance to win. Obviously some of the execution issues can be put on the players.. but thats my whole point. Its not cut and dry. Its a combo of talent/coaching. We need to do better as a whole.

I agree, that the buck stops at the coaching, I wont argue there. I am sure that Ingle wouldn't argue with you either.

Right now as fans we are all just upset because of the thrashing, so I am not going to get too negative on anyone player or coach. Losses like this tend to bring the worst out in fans...me included. The fact is that in a beatdown like that there really isn't much praise to be spread around on anyone, so it is open target practice on everyone usually. I am going to watch a movie and go to bed...if you aren't upset right now you probably aren't much of a fan.

Tough tough pill to swallow. Good news is our next three games are at home...the bad news is the defending champion Bucs are coming into town. I think it is safe to say we will be significant underdogs heading into this next game.

If ETSU plays like they did today you will beat us like a drum. However, I expect our play to improve...assuming Brown is okay.

I think Kennesaw and ETSU both suffer from the same disease thus far. Fickle and without defined leadership.

I am really glad I wasn't home to see this game. I think this has to be the worst beatdown we've suffered since joining the A-Sun.

Oh and one more thing. I know I harp on this stat, but 28% from the field? Really? We shot 60 times and only made 17. JU shot 71 times and still shot almost 30% better than us! (55%)

very true. Though you have a leader, but he's hurt. How is Mike Smith doing anyway?
