Thats probably the most hilarious thing I've seen in a while! But kinda sad at the same time. How are they Div1? Even the lower SBC teams average in the 15,000's..... Wow that's pitiful.

With 20 minutes on the clock before the game (pregame), there were literally less than 150 people at the FIU/Troy game. There ended up being around 3,000 or 6,000 tops, regardless of what ESPN tells you.

I'm surprised MT couldn't break 20K... I know it's WKU, but the team has created excitement over the past couple of years and given how close the schools are geographically, you'd think there'd be some hint of rivalry between the schools. Perhaps once WKU gets their FBS feet wet this game will heat up.

The rivalry is there, WKU just doesn't have support for football right now.

Why such a huge error in the reported attendance for Troy?

I'm surprised too. Homecoming should have had more of the community/alumni out. I'll just have to assume they were watching Tenn./Ala. instead of their hometown team/alma mater. The students were there, and stayed longer than I anticipated considering the score.
We could have been like a number of other schools and reported an inflated fake #. But I don't think we've reported anything other than butts in seats in at least 5 years.

Its not an inflated number if tickets were sold. Just because the butts aren't in the seats doesn't mean the university has to give the money back. Ya'll are making to much of a big deal out of this. Get over it.

What's happened to LaTech? i thought this was supposed to be a promising season for them. Looks like they'll end up at least 6-6, considering they still have Boise State and LSU left on the schedule.

Well, it is a big deal.
The non-AQ conferences all want bigger and better bowl games, and the best way to get them is to fill the stands during conference games and demonstrate to these bowls that they will make a mound of cash with your conference as one of the tie-ins.
If schools can't get 20K to show up for an important home game, what makes these bowls think they will sell tix in the postseason?
This is not meant as a slam on MT, it's just that I expected a bigger crowd for this particular game.

I apologize on behalf of our school for being at the bottom of the attendance ladder in the Belt... It's been an embarrassing season to say the least...

Didn't the fact UT-knoxville was on at 2:30 keep a lot of folks at home? I bet when the bigblue play a bunch of borderline Topper fans would stay at home to watch their beloved cayats.

UT and Alabama were playing at the exact same time. I think that hurt us a little. Also, WKU literally brought less than 10 fans. You would think that playing your rival a little over an hour away, regardless of their record, they would have better support. MT would have brought well over a thousand to their place if the situation was reversed.

I didn't take your post as a slam.
Most die hard Middle fans were extremely frustrated in the "low" turnout. There has been a lot of discussion that what is "low" now would have been a great crowd just four or five years ago. But we expect more now, as we should. And the crowd Saturday was disappointing.
Lots of excuses-- The bad weather only broke about 30 minutes prior to kickoff. The team was coming off back-to-back ugly showings on national TV. UT/Bama on TV at same time. And on and on.
But I was there and enjoyed every minute of the game. I even stuck around for the post-game performance by the Western band. MT dominated that category as well. :)
